EHF Warns of Lack of Evidence for Migraine Link to PFO

While several studies have suggested that the closure of patent foramen ovale (PFO) can improve migraine, the European Headache Federation has issued a statement warning that there is not evidence to support this theory.

Until properly conducted, prospective trials in migraine patients have been completed the EHF’s advice is that PFO closure should not be used for migraine prophylaxis outside of the clinical trial arena. To read the EHF’s full statement go to
